Fashion inspo straight from our TV screens

When it comes to television series, we all watch it for the obvious reasons: The juicy plot lines, the fist clenching drama, and then we have the outfits. Television shows have become more fashion focused in recent years. For instance, take Revenge and Ashley Madewkes Sharp and sophisticated on screen style, or Gossip girl and its upper east side styling. Blair Waldorf and Serena Van der Woodsen's extravagant couture gowns, and how they made hairbands acceptable for the over fives. Whilst rewinding back to the birth of Sex and the City, it's hard to forget Manhattans elite columnist, Carrie Bradshaw and her endless tutu skirts, mouth dropping style and her Manolo Mary-Jane obsessions. If only columnists could afford her adequate taste in real life. Now not every cast member within the late 1980s and early 1990s got the memo, however 'A different world' turned my attention to Whitley Gilbert's break the bank style. Her fur mink coats and Chanel two piece suits instantly drew me in.

Fashion and television have clearly gone hand in hand since the days of black and white TV, so much that it has become one of the most influential visuals in fashion today. I too have gotten some inspiration from the odd character or two, and right now I'm currently drooling over Whitley's outfits in season 5 (Jasmine Guy who plays Whitley in 'A different world').
